Recognizing that it’s just not a holiday season without a network-hosted variety show, Fox has announced it is again calling on its hit drama “Empire” for festive feelings with “Taraji’s White Hot Holidays,” which will be hosted by star Taraji P. Henson.

Henson, who co-hosted “Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays” in 2015 on the network with co-star Terrence Howard, will lead the one-hour special, which again will tilt heavily toward musical performances.

Pharrell Williams, Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC, Snoop Dogg and TLC are confirmed to offer interpretations of holiday songs along with appearances by “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews, Henson’s “Empire” costar Jussie Smollett, Taye Diggs and Tyler Perry.

This year Henson was again nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Cookie Lyon on “Empire,” which was her second consecutive acting nomination for the role. She will also star with Janelle Monáe and Octavia Spencer in the upcoming feature film “Hidden Figures,” which will be released on Christmas Day.

“Taraji’s White Hot Holiday” will air on Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
