Cookie Monster sings parody of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’
Cookie Monster is getting his moment in the white-hot center of the Internet Tuesday as his parody video, “Share It Maybe” -- a takeoff on Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” -- is making the rounds.
Cookie Monster’s music video (which will surely rival his previous hit, “C Is For Cookie”) shares a connection with two previous viral sensations: the Muppets, who had a run of great music videos last year, including a cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and PBS, which released a trippy Mister Rogers video called “Garden of Your Mind” last month.
In Cookie Monster’s video, he sings, “Me have one wish on me mind/ It is a chocolate chip kind / me look at you and me tell / you may have snickerdoodle.”
The video is quite a step up from the usual kids-themed music video, with Cookie Monster even benefiting from a host of backup dancers.
“Sesame Street”is produced by the Sesame Workshop, a nonprofit educational organization that also produces “Pinky Dinky Doo” and “The Electric Company” for public television.
For those concerned about the outcome, fear not: Cookie Monster gets cookies by song’s end.
