Fox orders a second season of M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Wayward Pines’ for summer 2016
The weirdness will go on in “Wayward Pines” -- at least for another season.
Fox announced Wednesday that it’s picking up Season 2 of the thriller series from writer-director M. Night Shyamalan, the master of the supernatural twist who’s been behind such features as “The Sixth Sense” and “Signs.”
Fox will premiere 10 new episodes in summer 2016, according to a media release.
In “Wayward Pines,” Matt Dillon plays a Secret Service agent who’s trapped in a small Idaho town where two federal agents disappeared.
The first season of “Wayward Pines,” which aired last summer, was a strong performer for Fox. Over a 30-day “multiplatform” ratings basis -- which measures streaming sites and DVR playback as well as conventional TV viewing -- the show accumulated an audience of 9.4 million total viewers, the network said. That gave it the biggest delayed-viewing lift of any series in Fox history.
