ABC renews ‘Mistresses’ for a second season
ABC has decided to remain faithful to “Mistresses.”
On Wednesday the network announced that it’s picking up a second season of the soapy summer drama, which stars former teen idol Alyssa Milano as the hot lawyer Savannah “Savi” Davis.
The series based on a British series of the same name that ran from 2008 to 2010 follows the racy lives of four driven female friends.

The American adaptation premiered in June and went on to become the summer’s second most popular scripted drama in the coveted 18-49 demographic, behind CBS’ hit “Under the Dome.”
Not too many original programs aired during the summer, but “Mistresses” showed real promise (and was relatively inexpensive to make), so it made sense to extend it for another run.
Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2014.
