“Mad Men” wrapped up its sixth season Sunday with another one for the record books.

AMC’s drama about 1960s ad men logged 2.7 million total viewers for the episode’s 10 p.m. premiere, according to Nielsen. That was even with last year’s result.

But the episode earned a 2.1 household rating average -- the highest ever (by one-10th of a ratings point) for a “Mad Men” season finale.

The audience for “Mad Men” is getting slightly older, which is not surprising for a TV series in its sixth season. The episode drew 1.3 million adults in the key demographic of ages 25 to 54, down 7% from last season.

AMC pointed out that the show remains the “most upscale” cable drama -- which means it attracts the greatest proportion of high-income households.
