Fans (and non-fans) react to ‘Jersey Shore’ cancellation
The impending end of “Jersey Shore” is not being met with silence. For those who loved the over-tanned knuckleheads and those who thought the show was the death spasm of pop culture itself, the announcement that MTV is canceling it after six seasons is bringing out many thoughts.
Snooki herself confirmed the news, tweeting, “Yes, sadly it’s true. This upcoming season of Jersey Shore will be our last. But it was fricken INSANE. I will always love my roomies!”
“Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof tweeted, “Snooki’s baby is the Yoko of JERSEY SHORE.”
Carson Daly, host of NBC’s “Last Call,” tweeted, “Jersey Shore’s ending. That’s great news. Let’s hope The Kardashians are next on God’s list. #WePray.”
Meanwhile, “God” tweeted, “I am not responsible for the imminent end of “The Jersey Shore”. But I am responsible for the imminent end of the Jersey shore.”
Darth Vader’s Twitter feed (not sanctioned by Lucasfilm, by the way) noted, “MTV is cancelling ‘Jersey Shore’ after next season. If this upsets you, congratulations, you’re an idiot.”
And Dane Cook even jumped in with a joke, writing, “MTV cancels Jersey Shore to make room for it’s latest unscripted location based series Spread Eagle, Wisconsin.”
