NBC News’ Chuck Todd calls Hillary Clinton miniseries a ‘nightmare’
It turns out RNC chairman Reince Priebus and NBC News White House correspondent Chuck Todd have one thing in common: They both hate the idea of NBC airing a miniseries about Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Todd appeared on the MSNBC morning chat show, “Morning Joe,” on Thursday and didn’t attempt to be political at all with his response.
“This miniseries is a total nightmare for NBC News,” Todd said. “We know there’s this giant firewall. We know we have nothing to do with it. We know we’d love to be as critical or whatever it’s going to be when it comes out. But there’s nothing we can do about it. We’re going to only own the negative. Whether it’s negative because the Clinton people are upset that it’s too tough on them or negative because the Republicans think it’s this glorification of her.

“No matter what, only we are going to own it. People are going to see the peacock, they see NBC, they see NBC News and think, ‘They can’t be that separate.’ ”
NBC’s plans for a Hillary Rodham Clinton miniseries first came under attack when Priebus threatened to not cooperate with the network when it came time to broadcast the Republican primary debates for the 2016 presidential race. He issued a similar warning to CNN, which has plans to air a documentary about Clinton.
CNN’s Erin Burnett made a similar defense of CNN when Priebus appeared on her show on Wednesday.
“Here at CNN, the program that we’re talking about come from the CNN Films division,” she said. “Not the news arm that I’m an employee of, and obviously at NBC, I know it’s a similar idea.”
Priebus has said that airing any Clinton-based miniseries or docs would feed into the “cult of personality” surrounding her.
“Unless you’re an idiot like Anthony Weiner, generally... these are positive developments for candidates,” he said.
The former secratary of State is widely seen as the Democratic front-runner for the presidential race in 2016, even though she hasn’t indicated she’s going to run.
