NBC orders kids’ variety show from Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey
NBC is thinking small.
On Saturday the network announced it is bringing a comedy-variety series from executive producers Steve Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres. With the working title of “Little Big Shots,” the series will spotlight young performers including dancers, singers and musicians.
The network has ordered eight, hour-long episodes of “Little Big Shots,” which will be hosted by the ubiquitous Harvey (who already hosts a radio show, daytime talk show and the syndicated “Family Feud”). It’s not yet clear whether DeGeneres will also appear in the show, but her daytime talker frequently showcases viral videos featuring precocious tots.
NBC continues to branch out into variety programming. Last year, it broadcast a special starring Maya Rudolph and this fall it will launch a weekly variety extravaganza featuring Neil Patrick Harris.
