To the moon, Jerry: ‘Seinfeld’ beats ‘Honeymooners’ as best sitcom
Jackie Gleason’s nickname was “The Great One.” But his landmark sitcom, “The Honeymooners” is being ranked below a so-called “show about nothing” as the greatest sitcom ever.
A new poll in the latest comedy-inspired issue of Vanity Fair has listed “Seinfeld” as the greatest sitcom of all time. The show starring Jerry Seinfeld beat out “The Honeymooners” with 20% of the vote, followed by “Friends” and “Cheers.” “Arrested Development” received 7% of the vote, “Mary Tyler Moore” 6% and “30 Rock” 5%.
