Seth Green says Fox show ‘Dads’ isn’t racist: ‘This is a comedy’

Critics may be attacking Fox’s new sitcom “Dads” as racist, but costar Seth Green isn’t buying it.

In an “Ask Me Anything” forum on Reddit on Tuesday, the actor defended the Seth MacFarlane-produced series, which has been spit-roasted by reviewers for jokes they feel indulge Asian American and other stereotypes.

“There have been some groups who through their own cultural sensitivities feel that jokes that we’re making are inappropriate for television, but I don’t think any of those people have really seen the show as a whole and are solely focusing on singular jokes without considering them in the context of the entire show,” Green said.

He added: “The creators of the show are smart and clever, and we all grew up loving this kind of TV for being both a mirror to what we’re all going through, and also provocative enough to ask questions about why we behave the way we do.”

Green said he believes that people need to lighten up. “Everyone needs to remember, this is a comedy, it’s not about making fun of people but it’s about having fun with the situations these people get into.”
