Stephen Colbert sells off his props, including Michael Stipe

With one more episode of “The Colbert Report,” Stephen Colbert has been busy cleaning out the studio.

On Wednesday’s show, Colbert aired a segment taped at a yard sale he hosted in the lobby of the Manhattan studio where he does the show. Every gag prop and costume used on nine years of his Comedy Central program was for sale at dirt-cheap prices.

There was the Afghandyland board game. And a copy of Colbert’s infamous speech delivered before President George W. Bush at the White House Correspondents Assn. Dinner. And a comedy award he won.

And even his one-of-a-kind Michael Stipe, fresh off the shelf and fully dusted.

Colbert, armed with a Swisher Sweet, ran the yard sale himself. And had many positive interactions with several of the elderly residents of the neighborhood.

In the end, it looks like almost everything got sold. But Stipe had to be marked down. And we never see who finally made off with their very own REM member.

Michael Stipe, here’s hoping you’re getting dusted wherever your new home is.
