Tracy Morgan announces 2016 comedy tour
The “Tracy Morgan: Picking Up the Pieces” tour is set to begin Feb. 5 at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind.
On the heels of his triumphant return to the stage at the 2015 Emmy Awards and a successful stint hosting “Saturday Night Live,” Tracy Morgan announced Tuesday that he would be heading back on the road with a comedy tour in early 2016.
The tour, entitled “Tracy Morgan: Picking Up the Pieces,” is the latest development in the comedian’s continuing rehabilitation after a deadly car accident in June 2014 nearly took his life.
Included in the touring dates listed on Morgan’s website is a performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., scheduled for April 22, part of “Comedy at the Kennedy Center.”

The Kennedy Center is also the site of Morgan’s recent appearance at the Mark Twain Prize ceremony for Eddie Murphy, where Morgan said, “He’s the reason why I’m in comedy, he’s the reason why I have a job, he’s the reason why I have a career,” just the latest touching moment in Morgan’s continued efforts to reclaim his life after the injury.
Morgan came to cultural prominence through his work on “Saturday Night Live” and his role as Tracy Jordan on Tina Fey’s “30 Rock,” where he earned a 2009 Emmy nomination for supporting actor in a comedy series.
The tour is scheduled to begin in Hammond, Ind., and conclude in Westhampton Beach, N.Y., though more dates are imminent. Tickets for some venues go on sale Oct. 23.
