Matt Lauer rips the media for ‘laziness’ during Ann Curry ouster
Matt Lauer is still mad about the Ann Curry mess -- and he’s blaming the media.
In an interview with Esquire, the co-host of NBC’s “Today” blasted reporters for laziness in reporting rumors during the shake-up that led to Curry’s tearful ouster from the show in 2012.
“I was disappointed by the laziness of the media, the willingness to read a rumor, repeat that rumor, and treat it as a fact,” Lauer said.

But he was in a difficult position, he added. “Does anyone want to see a person who’s making the money that the newspapers say I’m making complaining, ‘Woe is me, my life is terrible, and people are being unfair’? No one would’ve had any patience for that.”
Shortly before Curry was dumped as co-host, Lauer was reported to have re-signed with the show for a salary of $25 million a year.
And what message does Lauer have for his former co-host? Well, whatever thoughts he has on Curry herself, they are not in the interview.
What do you think of Lauer’s comments?
