Fresh off last week’s news that Jeremy Scott would be creating some of the costumes for Madonna’s upcoming tour comes word that the designer has given MTV’s iconic Moonman trophy a makeover.

Scott’s redesigned version – which will be handed out to winners of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards – gives the astronaut-like statuette a palette inspired by the color bars of a television test pattern, an outsized peace-sign necklace and winged sneakers that closely resemble the popular kicks Scott designed for Adidas.

Monday’s announcement calls the makeover “part of MTV’s long-standing history of bridging the gap between the world of fashion and music.”

This is the second time the Moonman – which dates to 1984 – has been given a stylish makeover. In 2013, the artist KAWS did the one-off honors, replacing the astronaut helmet with a cartoonish skull-and-crossbones head.

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are scheduled to take place at 9 p.m. Aug. 30 Eastern time with FOJ (“Friend of Jeremy) Miley Cyrus set to host.
