Paris Haute Couture: Stars attend Armani Privé show and dinner
For “One Night Only,” Giorgio Armani hosted a dinner Tuesday for nearly 500 guests, after showing his 2014 spring/summer Armani Privé collection at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The elegant affair took place in conjunction with the city’s premiere of “Eccentrico,” an exhibition of 80 of the Italian master’s most beautiful haute couture fashions, jewels and accessories.
There for the evening were Kristin Scott Thomas, Claudia Cardinale, French actresses Sophie Marceau and Isabelle Huppert, model Audrey Marnay, Pierre Casiraghi of Monaco (Princess Caroline’s son) and his girlfriend Beatrice Borromeo, along with others of note.
First came the runway show, a glamorous day-to-night parade dominated by shades of blue, ranging from subtle gray tones to a deep midnight, in fluid designs. Created from richly-printed jacquards, organza and gazar, the styles included an abundance of short jackets over wide skirts and trousers.
Tending to the dramatic, evening wear came richly embroidered with some styles revealingly sheer and most often catching the light, as they gleamed with crystals, sequins, rhinestones and pearls.
“It was so beautiful, I almost wept,” said Scott Thomas when the show ended, expressing her admiration for the combination of sheer fabrics and sparkling embellishments.
“It was amazing,” said Borromeo of the show, after she and Casiraghi moved onto the next step of surveying the exhibition one flight down from the runway show. Finally at evening’s end, all settled down for a four-course, seated dinner prepared by celebrity chef Davide Oldani.
