Et tu, Barneys?
In fashion, there are two major seasons: spring and fall. In L.A., there’s one season that eclipses them both, known simply as awards season. To kick-start the current Emmy race, Barneys New York in Beverly Hills is bringing fashion, entertainment and 44 B.C. together by putting the costumes from the HBO show “Rome” in its store windows.
Starting Saturday, shoppers at the Wilshire Boulevard store can view swords, gladiator sandals and regal gowns designed by Emmy-nominated costume designer April Ferry and curated by Simon Doonan. Fans can stop by, throw on a wreath of olive leaves to complement that dark-green Balenciaga bag and get one step closer to what it was like to live in ancient Rome -- Barneys style.
The costumes of “Rome” are in the windows of Barneys’ Beverly Hills store Aug. 4 to 13.
