Rihanna, Kendall Jenner share the love for this season’s coolest jacket from Saint Laurent

This season’s hottest coat isn’t exactly a practice in subtlety. Quite literally, it’s going to be a big trend. Saint Laurent’s bright red, heart-shaped fox fur jacket is making the style rounds on Instagram.

Last month, Rihanna wore the heavily shoulder padded jacket out in New York (she paired it with shorts, providing a puzzling mix of seasonal opposites), as a sort of homage to the state’s tourist tagline. Now, Kendall Jenner is the latest social star to don the coat. The model shared a photo of herself wearing the maximalist piece this morning — “low key look,” she wrote — and the post has already amassed over 1.5 million likes. Based on the users commenting on Jenner’s photo, being first matters: “Ri does it better” tends to be the consensus here.

Meanwhile, over on Rihanna’s Instagram post, new comments keep coming in. “When ur [sic] look is copied by kendall. Get it, she must be big fan of riri. I would copy her style too if I had the money,” wrote one user. At $15,000, emulation of the look doesn’t come cheap, but those in the market for the statement piece can look to the luxury SoHo boutique Kirna Zabête. Store founder Beth Buccini demonstrated the style with a Instagram Boomerang video clip, denoting it “The most loved @ysl piece of the season.” Well, it’s certainly the most heart shaped.

The coat was shown last spring as part of Hedi Slimane’s last collection for Yves Saint Laurent. The designer departed the house in April after a four-year contract.
