New York Fashion Week spring-summer 2013: Calvin Klein
NEW YORK -- There was a three-celebrity pileup at Francisco Costa’s Calvin Klein show Thursday, the final day of New York Fashion Week, when Emma Stone, Diane Kruger and Amy Adams turned up in the front row for the first time this season. (Now that’s what I call a fashion exclusive).
The inspiration: Urban femininity.

The look: Sculptural dresses, jackets and skirts in pale silks with subtle volumes and dark, shaded edges, as if sketched by a charcoal pencil or folded out of paper. Lustrous satin dresses shaped by compressions and folds, or topped with a graphic, black woven layer to create an Op Art effect. Cocktail gowns with hourglass bustiers framed with slivers of metal. Palette of pure white, soft neutrals and black.
The verdict: One of Costa’s best. All the exploration of form that we expect from him, plus a heady dose of sex appeal. These clothes should play extremely well in Hollywood.
