Dining guide: Oscars 2013 viewing parties and specials

Watch the Oscars on your couch again this year, or get out for some Champagne and oysters, or chips and guacamole, or a three-course dinner with wagyu beef and Dover sole? If you’re thinking the latter, here are some options, including free pizza:

Pizzeria Il Fico

Pizzeria Il Fico will throw its first annual Oscar pizza party. For the Academy Awards on Sunday, for each pizza purchased receive a second of equal or lesser value for free. Public Kitchen & Bar

Watch a live telecast at Public Kitchen & Bar in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (the site of the first Academy Awards in 1929) starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Oscars will be projected on large flat screen televisions installed around the dining room. A $99 three-course prix-fixe menu will feature items such as: wagyu beef tartare with crostini and quail eggs; Dover sole with cauliflower, brown butter, pine nuts, golden raisins and capers; and lemon Napolean with honey ginger ice cream. A la carte items also will be available, as well as Champagne and bottle service. Red O

Red O extends its Street Food Social Hour menu on Sunday, from 4 to 9 p.m. The restaurant is rolling out a red carpet, and large projector screens will air the Oscars in the main bar. A $100 gift card goes to the guest who correctly guesses the highest amount of Oscar winners. The menu features oysters ($2 each) with salsas and lime, guacamole ($6) with warm chips and salsa, Street Food Trio ($12) with smoked chicken taquitos, Mexico City-style corn masa quesadillas and plantain sopes. 8155 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, (323) 655-5009, www.redorestaurant.com.

Mar’sel at the Terranea Resort

A viewing party and special menu from chef de cuisine Rebecca Merhej, which includes a selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts such as: the Argo-inspired “Hollywood Meets Iran” potato latkes with caviar, crème fraiche and chives; the Django Unchained-inspired “Bounty Hunter Lamb Rack” with barley, cucumber, crushed olives, mint and warm pita bread: and the “Zero Dark Chocolate,” a bittersweet chocolate cake with dulce de leche gelato and whipped cream. The full menu also is available, and an Oscar-themed cocktail menu. The viewing party will begin at 4 p.m. The guest with the most correct winners on his or her Oscar ballot will receive a dinner for two valued at $250.
