All-star farm dinner at Weiser’s in Tehachapi, a benefit for Alex’s Lemonade

Weiser Family Farms is famous at L.A. farmers markets for its purple Brussels sprouts, Ogen melons and Russian Banana fingerling potatoes. And many shoppers might be curious about what it’s like at the farm in Tehachapi. Well, Weiser Family Farms will soon be the setting for an all-star dinner.

Chefs who will be cooking at the dinner on Saturday, Sept. 21, include: Kris Tominaga and Brian Dunsmoor of the Hart & the Hunter, David LeFevre of Manhattan Beach Post and Fishing with Dynamite, Ari Taymor of Alma, Jeremy Fox of Rustic Canyon, Milo & Olive’s Erin Eastland, and Huckleberry’s Matt Turnquist, with desserts by Zoe Nathan and Laurel Almerinda of Milo & Olive and Huckleberry.

The dinner is to benefit the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer and the family of Emily Rico.

Weiser Family Farms was founded by high school teacher Sid Weiser in 1977 in Tehachapi, where he harvested fruit trees, then bought farmland in other locations to grow more fruits, vegetables and flowers. Weiser’s son Alex started selling at farmers markets in 1982, and chefs have since gone crazy for those Russian Banana fingerlings as well as Red Thumb potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, DiCiccio broccoli, China Rose radishes, Japanese eggplants and Cavaillon melons.

Weiser now sells at nearly a dozen Los Angeles area farmers markets, including Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Hollywood.

The dinner is set to from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.; tickets are $150 per person. Tickets are available for purchase online.
