After spending more than three years studying and practicing cha dao, “the way of tea,” Adam Yasmin founded Teaometry. The Los Angeles-based company launched in 2011 with a line of organic and wild-harvested teas.

The tea purveyor hopes to share his love of the Chinese tea ceremony through Teaometry’s line of pu-erhs, oolongs and medicinal herbal tisanes sourced from buyers that travel to Taiwan and China to purchase directly from farmers. “People are starting to pay attention to their teas in the same way they do their foods,” says Yasmin, “so it’s an interesting time to introduce people to rare teas without being too scientific about it.”

Teaometry’s line of teas include Adaptabilitea, an herbal blend of rama tulsi leaf (holy basil) and jiaogulan whole leaf; Guayusa, a naturally caffeinated tea made from dried holly tree leaves; roasted oolong, a partially oxidized tea that makes for a great coffee alternative; and Everyday Pu-erh, an aged and fermented tea.

The packaged teas are available for purchase online. Tea enthusiasts can find Yasmin pouring a selection of his teas at the Melrose Trading Post in West Hollywood on Sunday.
