Young Folks Urban Farmers supper at Good Girl Dinette

The Young Folks Urban Farmers return to Diep Tran’s Good Girl Dinette in Highland Park for a family supper fundraiser on Dec.17. This will be the second year that the American-Vietnamese diner will host the fundraiser benefiting the group’s hillside school farm project at the Los Angeles Leadership Academy.

Started by Julia Carr and Daniel Lawler in 2010, Young Folks Urban Farmers is a collective of young people looking to influence the way Los Angeles eats through community involvement and interest in urban agriculture. The group uses the school farm project at the L.A. Leadership Academy as a way to engage and educate backyard farmers, students, staff, faculty and parents about growing food in a city.

Young Folks Urban Farmers’ Food Alchemy division will be cooking up the evening’s menu featuring fresh goat cheese and pickled root vegetables on toast, a seasonal salad, roasted winter squash and sage risotto and an apple crisp with cardamom roasted pepitas and vanilla-lavender whipped cream.
