Juicy Lucy opens in downtown’s Taste at FIGat7th

Paul Shoemaker, former chef-owner of Savory in Malibu’s Point Dume Village (which closed its doors late last year after a battle with the restaurant’s landlord), brings his latest venture Juicy Lucy to downtown L.A.’s Taste at FIGat7th.

The new eatery officially opens its doors to the public today in the recently renovated shopping center, which also houses Mendocino Farms, Sprinkles Cupcakes, Flying Pig Cafe, George’s Greek Grill, Oleego by Park’s Barbecue, Indus by Saffron, the Melt and Loteria Grill.

On the menu is the Juicy Lucy burger, Shoemaker’s take on a style of burger hailing from the Midwest that tucks cheese inside the burger rather than on top. A grass-fed beef patty is injected with a cheese blend of brie, white American and Swiss cheese and cooked in a controlled vapor oven before being topped with fixings, such as aioli, caramelized onions and pickles. It all goes between a brioche bun. Market-inspired burgers du jour and turkey burgers will also be available on the menu in addition to sriracha cheese fries, agua frescas and shakes with flavors like mixed berry and salted caramel.
