People names Gwyneth Paltrow 2013’s Most Beautiful Woman

People magazine has bestowed its Most Beautiful Woman title for 2013 on Gwyneth Paltrow. Which, according to our reckoning, also makes her the year’s “Most Beautiful Woman Married to a Member of Coldplay*” and “Most Beautiful Woman to Have a Second Cookbook on the BestSeller List While Starring Opposite Robert Downey Jr. in a Movie.” Some people are just lucky, we guess. Kering, the French conglomerate formerly known as PPR, is set to acquire a majority stake in the family-controlled Italian jewelry brand Pomellato, reports WWD which notes that, revenue-wise, “Pomellato is the fifth-largest jewelry brand in Europe after Cartier, Chopard, Bulgari and Tiffany & Co.” It will join a stable of luxury brands that already includes Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Stella McCartney and Yves Saint Laurent. An eight-story building housing several garment factories collapsed near Bangladesh’s capital Wednesday morning, killing at least 70 people and trapping many more, the Associated Press reported. Among the businesses operating out of the building -- which also housed banks and shops -- were Phantom Apparels, New Wave Style and New Wave Bros. garment factories. [Los Angeles Times]

Reed Krakoff is leaving his post as president and creative director at Coach, though not until June of 2014. According to WWD, Krakoff is departing -- after 16 years with the brand -- to focus on his eponymous label. [WWD]
