Sephora demonstrates its ‘perfect’ foundation match system
Finding a perfect -- or even almost perfect -- foundation match for your skin can be quite a challenge. As writer Alene Dawson pointed out in an article for the Los Angeles Times earlier this year, it can be “downright scary.”
Dawson wrote about advances in making foundations that more closely mimic the skin and she also mentioned the new Sephora + Pantone Color IQ system that uses a handheld device to scan the skin, assign a Pantone skin tone number and direct the customer to products that should be just right.
Skeptical? Sephora is inviting customers to give it a try this weekend and next at participating stores, where you can get a consultation and foundation application as well as complimentary makeup makeovers. The stores will also be giving out deluxe beauty samples.
The promotion is scheduled for Aug. Friday through Sunday and Aug. 23-25. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome too, organizers say. For a list of participating stores, visit Sephora.com’s store locator page, which includes listings of events at individual stores.
