Twitter #weekendeats highlights: Seeing red

Monday morning’s #weekendeats chat had us all seeing shades of red. From pizza to watermelon and tomatoes, our chat participants had some pretty, vibrant meals over the weekend. Here are the highlights:

Karen of the blog Tasty Trials shared a picture and recipe for a bright red spicy gazpacho, while Carrie Fehr of the blog Kitchen Garden made a caramelized watermelon and heirloom tomato salad. There was some serious envy when @citizenrobot on Twitter shared a photo of pizza and rosé from Mother Dough restaurant.

From our “What did you eat this weekend?” photo gallery, Gary Speirs shared a photo of red and gold roasted beets with Roquefort cheese.

There were also some dishes that simply couldn’t be ignored. Ever had bacon on your corn? The site Off the Grid shared a couple ideas for corn condiments such as bacon and cream. @Foodbully shared a picture of mango chile lime cupcakes, and Jessica Glick of the blog Jessica’s Free Foodie blog shared a recipe and picture for a fried chicken sandwich with spicy blueberry sriracha sauce. This one you definitely have to see to believe.

Please join in by tweeting your #weekendeats at us Monday morning @latimesfood and share your photos with us in our new “What did you eat this weekend?” gallery. We’re trying out a new photo gallery system called Olapic. It’s easy to share photos with us by email, Facebook, Flickr and Instagram. We’ll feature some of the photos here on Daily Dish, so be sure to check back for more #weekendeats and #foodporn throughout the week.

Hope to see everyone next Monday morning on Twitter! It’s sure to be a drool-worthy good time.
