Bluetooth speakers, for apps and videos in the kitchen
Via CNET, Williams-Sonoma introduces the Smart Tools Bluetooth Speaker to listen to cooking apps and instructional videos on your iPad or other tablet.
Personally, I don’t find I need to crank up the volume any further, but if your kitchen is football-field-sized or the ambient noise is high, these speakers could do the trick. They’re also equipped with a stand and a splash screen just in case you get too enthusiastic about whisking that batter or sauce.
Drum-shaped and just 2 inches tall and 4-3/4 inches in diameter, the brushed metal Williams-Sonoma Smart Tools Bluetooth Speaker comes with two USB ports so it can charge your phone or iPod at the same time it’s blasting out advice from baker Dorie Greenspan or KCRW “Good Food” host and pie queen Evan Kleiman. There’s also an integrated microphone “for speakerphone capability.” The built-in rechargeable lithium-polymer battery lasts seven hours, which should get you through the most complicated recipe. At least I hope so.
