Which brew goes with Dodger Dogs? You have some crafty choices
Beer and baseball are a natural pairing, and this year fans can finally enjoy a brewed-in-L.A. beer with their Dodger Dog. While there has been an extremely limited selection of craft brews at Dodger Stadium for the Last few years (if you’re picky about what line for Dodger Dogs you stand in), this is the first season that beer from a Los Angeles craft brewer has been available. You just need to know where to look.
The new ownership has invested well over $100 million dollars in the venerable stadium at Chavez Ravine, and in addition to the remodels and improvements, new food and beverage options are being offered by the Dodger Stadium concessioners -- Levy Restaurants.
BEER: Taste a beer based on French dip sandwiches
Dodger Stadium has long languished behind several other Levy-serviced big league parks that have embraced craft beer, but this season Levy has begun to showcase craft beer at the park by adding a pair of craft-beer-focused stands serving brews from three Los Angeles brewers.
The Think Blue Bars are located at each end of the concourse on the Loge Level, and a 12-ounce cup of one of the featured craft brands will set you back $10. At a recent Saturday evening game, Angel City Brewing’s refreshing Eureka Wit and Golden Road Brewing’s hoppy Point the Way IPA were pouring along with the malty Fireman’s Brew’s Brunette double bock -- and at 8% ABV it is the best-bang-for-your-buck option.
Fireman’s Brew chief operating officer is obviously proud of the placement: “We couldn’t be more excited about it!” David Johnson said. “All of us at Fireman’s Brew are huge Dodgers fans and it was a dream come true to enjoy a cold Brunette at the newly renovated stadium.”
Besides these new offerings from Los Angeles brewers, there are other craft beers available throughout the stadium, and they are priced much lower than $0.80 per ounce. Samuel Adams Boston Lager is available at many concessions on the Loge level, and a 24-ounce pour is priced at just $11.50. My favorite ballpark beer is also found on the Loge level at “Brooklyn Dodgers Pizza” near section 130: a 24-ounce cup of Firestone Walker’s full-flavored DBA pale ale is $11.50 and goes great with a Dodger Dog.
