Got a fun, creative way to get fit? Join #LATFit
We’re at the 2013 halfway point. Are you sticking to the health and fitness goals you set back in January? If not, consider this your nudge to get back on track and join #LATFit Nation.
All you have to do is find fun, creative ways to make time for fitness each day, then use social media — Twitter and Instagram — to share it using the hashtag #LATFit. And if you’re enjoying a healthful meal or recipe, share that too.
The community support could be just what you need to keep you going with workouts of your choice. Many members of #LATFit Nation enjoy walking, and post a picture of the daily pedometer count. Others like hiking, and post an image of a breathtaking vista they snapped along the way. Swimmers post a lap count.
And then there’s Xuan Ryan Klevecka, 37, of Oxnard. She gets in her bursts of fitness by doing something she loves: working in her backyard garden. That is, when she’s not running around after her 2-year-old son, Nicholas.
“I hate the gym,” she said. “If it doesn’t look like exercise, or sound like exercise, then I’m happy. ... We have a very large yard, and I dug up half the garden and planted grass. Now, we’re working on another part of the yard.... It’s great exercise.”
It also allows her to spend quality time with her son and model an active lifestyle for him. “That’s important to us,” she said, adding that she also looks for opportunities to explore Southern California on foot and bike with the tyke.
She posts images of her spruced-up yard on Instagram, using the handle @FriedRiceandEggs, as well as images from her fitness tracker, healthy home-cooked meals, and more.
Thank you, Xuan, for showing #LATFit Nation that fitness, family and fun go hand in hand.
