Arteriors opens its first retail store in West Hollywood
Packed with every type of light imaginable — including antique-brass chain pendants, Sputnik sconces and organic-looking wood chandeliers — the first direct-to-consumer Arteriors store, in West Hollywood, is sure to please the lighting-fixated.
The business has been around since 1987, when Mark Moussa started the Dallas-based company as a design firm specializing in lighting, furniture and decorative accessories sold primarily to the trade.
On Wednesday, Moussa opened the firm’s first retail store, on the corner of Melrose Avenue and Huntley Drive, two doors down from the new Design Within Reach studio.
“We wanted to expand our presence, and this is such a great location,” said Patty Price, Arteriors’ executive vice president. “Once we see what people like, we’ll play with our offerings.”
Prices vary from $210 for a delicate polished brass Moroccan-style lamp to $12,000 for a glass-and-driftwood dining table.
Arteriors also offers a Mottega table lamp (also available online) that customers can design themselves by choosing the shape, color, base, finial and shade. The finished product is $720 to $1,100, depending on materials.
Additional offerings include lighting and screens from guest designers Barry Dixon and Laura Kirar and a new line of decorative fireplace screens ($810 to $1,950) in antique brass, silver leaf, bronze and distressed gold iron.
Arteriors, 8620 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. (424) 249-6855. www.arteriorshome.com.
