Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Rio Dell, Calif.
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon 20 miles from Rio Dell, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:19 p.m. PST at a depth of 11.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 24 miles from Fortuna, 37 miles from Eureka and 42 miles from Bayside.
In the last 10 days, there have been seven earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
