A statewide Amber Alert was issued Wednesday morning for a Sunnyvale man who authorities say abducted a 1-month-old baby.

The California Highway Patrol identified the man as 22-year-old Mesut Guler, who was possibly driving a tan, medium-sized 2004 GMC Envoy SUV with the license plate number 6HIL892. The SUV has an image of a large American eagle on its rear window.

The missing Latino child’s name is Henry Guler-Romero, according to the CHP. The Amber Alert was issued shortly after 3:20 a.m.

Guler was described as being 6 feet tall, 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was also listed as being of Turkish descent.

Amber Alerts -- a mass public notification system -- are issued when authorities believe a child has been abducted and is facing grave danger.

Anyone with information on Guler’s whereabouts, or who spots him and the baby, were urged to contact the Sunnyvale Police Department at (408) 730-7110, or to call 911.
