Babysitter gets 10 years for lewd acts with boys, ages 8 and 3

A 21-year-old baby-sitter who was hired through a caregiving website has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison after pleading no contest to molesting two Glendale brothers over an eight-month period.

Jordan Liu of Alhambra was sentenced on Oct. 23 for two felony counts of lewd acts upon a child, according to Shiara Dávila-Morales, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Liu was also ordered to register as a convicted sex offender after he is released from prison, the Glendale News-Press reported. He was arrested Nov. 22, 2011.

The victims, an 8-year-old Glendale boy and his 3-year-old brother, told their mother about the alleged abuse after she read them an article about sexual molestation charges against former assistant Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky.

One of her sons cried as she read the article and told her that Liu had “done some of those things to me,” according to Glendale police.

Liu allegedly told the boys that if they talked about the abuse, everyone would get in trouble.

The boys’ mother hired Liu after finding him on the baby-sitting service website Sittercity. Liu looked after the boys about once a month for at least four hours, according to police.

At the time, Liu had a Sittercity profile and described himself as having had eight years of baby-sitting experience. His profile went on to describe him as a Pasadena City College student who was a “very responsible and a very nice person.”

He offered multiple services including cooking, cleaning and doing laundry.

Liu also claimed to help “your children with their homework, have fun with them and take good care of them.”
