Suspected bank robbers with hostages fired on officers during chase
Suspects fleeing from a bank robbery Wednesday in Stockton -- and holding hostages -- fired on police officers during a wild chase, officials said.
Details were still unclear. But the Stockton Police Department reported on its Facebook page that the suspects had at least one hostage and fired “multiple rounds” at officers during a pursuit. There were reports that a second hostage was released.
The robbery occurred at the Bank of the West on Thornton Road, police said.
Stockton police said the pursuit appears to be over.
“No movement in suspect vehicle,” officials said. “Officers are preparing to clear the vehicle.”
