Justin Bieber accused of driving freeway speeds in neighborhood
L.A. County sheriff’s deputies are investigating singer Justin Bieber after witnesses in his Calabasas neighborhood reported the pop singer driving at freeway speeds on local streets.
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said the case will be investigated and presented to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office for a possible criminal filing. Bieber refused to talk with sheriff’s deputies, Whitmore said.
Prosecutors also are weighing whether to charge Bieber for battery for allegedly spitting on a neighbor.
Residents called the Lost Hills-Malibu sheriff’s station just before 8 p.m. Monday to report Beiber peeling out, screeching his tires and driving at a “startling rate of speed,” Whitmore said.
He noted there was a young child in the immediate area where Bieber was allegedly speeding in his white Ferrari.
While some could dismiss Beiber’s past driving incidents as actions of a typical teenager, the latest alleged transgression appeared to cross the line, Whitmore said.
“This complaint of reckless driving is something everybody takes seriously,” Whitmore said. “This is unacceptable behavior anywhere by anybody.”
Bieber was involved in a confrontation with a neighbor in March after the neighbor complained about the singer and his entourage speeding through the neighborhood.
In November, Bieber was cited by police in West Hollywood for making an unsafe turn.
