West L.A. man pleads not guilty in bomb-making case
A West Los Angeles man pleaded not guilty Thursday to more than half-a-dozen felony counts related to the Los Angeles Police Department’s seizure of more than 17 pipe bombs from his residence
Robert Colt Wilson, 29, faces seven criminal counts: possession of a destructive device on a public street, possession of a destructive device at a private habitat, possession of the ingredients to make a destructive device, possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying an unregistered loaded handgun and possession of methamphetamine.
Wilson is being held on $500,000 bail. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of more than nine years in state prison.
LAPD officers pulled Wilson’s vehicle over in West Los Angeles about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and said they found him in possession of drugs, a gun and a pipe bomb.
When investigators went to his apartment, they found additional devices, LAPD officials said.
Police described Wilson as “a lone wolf type of individual” and did not believe he has any affiliations to terrorist groups.
