Man gets 16 months for stealing car, killing dog trapped inside
A 30-year-old transient will serve more than a year in jail for stealing a car and subsequently killing a dog, authorities said Tuesday.
Danny Fis was sentenced to 16 months behind bars Tuesday after pleading no contest to one count of unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle and one count of cruelty to an animal, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
On Aug. 17, 2013, Fis stole a car that was left running with the air conditioner on for a dog inside while the owner ran into a North Hollywood store, according to the release.
Fis was accused of ditching the car with the windows rolled up, which caused the dog to die.
