Shooting death of boy, 5, in Riverside County called accidental
A 5-year-old boy was reportedly killed by accidental gunfire in Riverside County on Tuesday, authorities said.
The Perris Police Department was called to the 31000 block of Wolfskill Avenue just after 5:20 p.m.
At the scene, detectives were interviewing family members to determine the cause of the shooting and how the boy may have died, according to a series of Twitter messages issued by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Albert Martinez.
The boy was found inside the home “suffering from a gunshot wound,” Martinez posted Wednesday.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s department said early Wednesday that the death was still considered accidental.
