Decaying body found inside van parked at TJ Maxx in Norwalk
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man whose decaying body was found inside a van parked at a TJ Maxx in Norwalk.
Authorities received a call around 5 p.m. Friday reporting a foul odor emitting from a gray and white van parked at the Norwalk Shopping Center, at 11758 Firestone Blvd., Lt. Eric Smithson said.
The vehicle had been in the same spot for several days, the caller reported. When officers arrived, they found a dead man in the back of the van.
The man did not have any identification on him, and there were no visible signs of wounds, Smithson said.
“The body had been there more than several days,” he said. Officers found “decay on the body.”
Homicide detectives and the coroner’s office are working to determine the cause of death.
