Deputy-involved shooting in O.C. leaves 40-year-old man dead
A 40-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy at a home in Rancho Santa Margarita, authorities said.
Deputies arrived at a home along Paso Viento, an affluent residential street near Trabuco Canyon, at 2:10 p.m. and found the man, identified as Alec Ouzounian, with “multiple self-inflicted stab wounds,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.
Deputies confronted Ouzounian and the shooting occurred about 2:45 p.m., sheriff’s officials said. Further details on the nature of the confrontation between deputies and Ouzounian were not immediately available.
Ouzounian was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies were first called to the home on reports that a man was attempting to commit suicide, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock.
No deputies were injured in the incident.
