Four people, including 2 children, injured in Florence fire
Four people were injured Wednesday evening in a fire at a commercial structure in the Florence neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said.
More than 100 firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene at about 6 p.m. They extinguished the fire in 31 minutes and rescued four people.
A man, a woman, a toddler and an older child were transported to a hospital in fair condition with smoke inhalation injuries. It’s not known why they were in the building, but authorities believe they are a family, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The 6,400-square-foot structure, built in 1922, was structurally compromised, Humphrey said. The dollar value of the damage was unavailable. The fire did not spread to any other structures.
It’s not known what business was using the space, Humphrey said. A Yelp page with the building’s address lists the business as Fernando’s Upholstery.
