Burglary suspects lead police on chase through downtown construction site
It looked like a scene from “The Fast & Furious” franchise — police cars chasing an SUV through a busy construction site and against traffic on a one-way street.
A chase involving three residential burglary suspects who fled police in Glendale and abandoned their SUV in downtown Los Angeles ended with two of the suspects in custody and one at large Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The chase began in the 3500 block of East Chevy Chase Drive in Glendale about 1 p.m., according to Authorities.
From there, police chased the bright red SUV through Pasadena, South Pasadena and into Los Angeles before they encountered busy lunch-hour traffic downtown.

The chase headed down bustling Broadway and through a Metro construction site before zig-zagging around downtown streets. At one point, the chase went down 3rd Street, opposite one-way traffic.
The pursuit took its toll on the Arizona-plated SUV, tearing off its left front tire and causing it to come to a stop at one of L.A.’s busiest downtown intersections, 6th and Broadway.
Two suspects jumped from the vehicle and appeared to run into the International Jewelry Center at 550 S. Hill St. while a third was quickly captured by police as bystanders watched in amazement.
Police surrounded the building and began searching for the two suspects. They found one but lost the other, according to officials.
In the meantime, the battered SUV was towed away along with two Glendale police cars.
