Female O.C. high school teacher charged with sexually assaulting boy
A Brea Olinda High School math teacher was charged Tuesday with multiple counts of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old male student, authorities said.
Michelle Lynn Johnson, 45, of Anaheim was charged with nine felony counts. Some of the alleged crimes occurred at Brea Olinda High School and some away from campus, prosecutors said.
Johnson, who has been placed on leave, is to be arraigned Wednesday; she is free on $20,000 bail.
Johnson is at least the fourth female teacher in Southern California charged this year with sexually assaulting a boy she taught.
The teacher met the boy at Brea Olinda High. Prosecutors allege she began privately tutoring him and other students. The alleged unlawful sexual relationship occurred between April and June.
Authorities initiated the investigation when the boy’s parents contacted police after becoming suspicious of the relationship between Johnson and their son.
If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum sentence of eight years and four months in state prison.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact Supervising District Atty. Investigator Paul Carvo at (714) 347-8794 or Brea police Detective Debbie Stark at (714) 990-7638.
