Motorist suspected in fatal hit-and-run arrested
A 20-year-old motorist suspected of hitting two pedestrians and killing one before fleeing the scene Saturday has been arrested, Los Angeles police said.
The suspect, whom police declined to identify, fled the West Adams neighborhood where the collision occurred shortly after 10 p.m. without stopping or helping the injured, said Sgt. Philip Ybarra. One victim – a woman – died after being transported to a local hospital.
The other unidentified victim suffered severe injuries but was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive, Ybarra said.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.
The suspect later returned to the scene with his parents and was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, Ybarra said.
Detectives asked anyone with information about the crash to call them at (323) 421-2500.
