A man who allegedly shot and injured a police officer during a hostage standoff in Inglewood last month is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a charge of attempted murder.

Christopher Warsaw, 45, was arrested on Nov. 27 after he surrendered to police following hours of negotiations.

Warsaw had been holding his girlfriend and her teenage daughter hostage, according to Inglewood police.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office later charged Warsaw with attempted murder.

The tense standoff occurred on a Wednesday afternoon after Inglewood police were called to a home in the 10700 block of 5th Avenue, officials said.

Neighbors told police that a man had allegedly dragged a teenage girl inside the home by her hair.

When police approached the house, shots were fired from inside, police said.

One officer was shot once in the chest but was saved by his bulletproof vest, police said. Another officer was injured when she fell while trying to help the wounded officer.

The man allegedly held the two females hostage for about nine hours until he surrendered to police.

The incident forced authorities to evacuate nearby residents, many of whom were preparing meals for Thanksgiving.
