Scores of fish, 20 birds and a dog dead after pet store fire
About 100 fish, 20 birds and a dog died in an early morning fire Saturday at a Koreatown pet store, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the fire about 8:20 a.m. in the 3900 block of West 6th Street and were able to remove some of the animals from the store, said Katherine Main, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman.
The store is on the first floor of a three-story building. No residents in the apartments above the store were injured.
The fire was extinguished in about 35 minutes, Main said.
