Join Times staff writer Anna Gorman on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. for an L.A. Now Live discussion about shared medical appointments and their growth in popularity.

Gorman says they could be used more frequently under the healthcare overhaul.

“A growing number of physicians around the nation are turning the traditional medical visit inside out, making what were once one-on-one, private appointments a group exercise,” Gorman writes.

Proponents say multipatient appointments are especially valuable in areas with physician shortages, but there is debate over the practice.
