L.A. Now Live: First homicides of 2014 and L.A.’s crime statistics
Join Times staff writer Kate Mather for a discussion at 9 a.m. Monday on Los Angeles’ first homicide of the year, as well as the city’s crime statistics and projections.
Before the end of the year, the city of Los Angeles was poised to see the fewest recorded homicides since 1966. As of Dec. 28, there were 250 homicides -- a 16% reduction from the year prior.
Mather will explain some of the reasons there has been such a drastic reduction in homicides, as well as what police are doing to bring the number of killings down even further.
