Mother of young boys found wandering Long Beach is found, questioned
The missing mother of two toddlers found Thursday roaming a busy street alone in Long Beach has been found, police said.
Shenae Dixon, 23, had been sought after her two boys, about 1 and 2 years old, were spotted about 8:45 a.m. Thursday on Atlantic Avenue and 60th Street after a passerby reported they were alone, the Long Beach Police Department said.
The children appear to be in good health. The older boy was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and sandals, and the younger child was wearing a T-shirt and a diaper.
On Friday, police said Dixon had been located and was being interviewed by police. Authorities did not elaborate how or where she was found.
Witnesses told police that no one was seen with the children or seen dropping them off. Investigators canvassed a two-block area, but no one recognized the children.
The boys are in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services. All law enforcement agencies in L.A. County, as well as the five surrounding counties, have been notified about the two children.
