Teen killed at high school left suicide note, San Diego police say
The 15-year-old boy who was killed by police officers early Saturday morning after he pointed a BB gun at them had left a suicide note, San Diego police Lt. Mike Holden said Monday.
The teen, a freshman at Torrey Pines High School, was fatally shot near the front of the Carmel Valley campus after someone called 911 around 3:30 a.m. and asked police to check on a boy at the school.
Officers later determined the boy had made the call himself.
Police said the boy ignored commands to drop his gun and continued aiming at the officer while walking toward them. Both officers fired. The shooting occurred within a minute of the officers arriving.
Holden said they found the suicide note on the boy.
The student, who lives near the school, has not been identified by police because he is a juvenile. Police said the boy was white.
